Istana Park, which opened in 1996, occupies an area that was originally established as Orchard Park in 1971. It was designed to increase the importance of Istana's entrance and features a central festival arch that is 26 meters long and four stories high. The arch's design represents its function as a gateway to the Civic District, which is home to numerous national monuments and other historic landmarks.
