neighbourhood school

DEFINITION

A school usually located near a HDB estate.

ETYMOLOGY

Different groups of people, such as academics, education ministers, teachers and students all have different views on what is a “neighbourhood school”.

A common view is that neighbourhood schools refer to government schools or government-aided schools, which are usually not associated with religion or race and established in a public housing (HDB) estate.
